Does Forwardme ship with DDU or DDP?

Forwardme supports both DDU and DDP shipping — choose the option that suits your needs for duties and customs.

Updated

What do “DDU” and “DDP” mean?

  • DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): The shipper (or Forwardme) handles all import duties, taxes, and customs clearance. You receive your package without having to pay anything extra at the border.
  • DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid): Duties and taxes are not prepaid by the shipper. The recipient (you) is responsible for paying import charges and managing customs clearance upon arrival.

Forwardme ships with both DDU and DDP options

Yes — Forwardme supports both DDU and DDP methods, depending on destination, carrier availability, and local customs rules.

  • If DDP is available for your destination and your shipment, you can select it so Forwardme handles all duties, taxes, and clearance for you.
  • If DDP is not supported for your country or courier, your shipment will be sent as DDU, meaning you’ll need to pay duties and taxes locally when the package arrives.

Things to watch out for

  • Country restrictions: Some countries have strict or unpredictable customs regulations, making DDP impractical or impossible in those destinations.
  • Carrier support: Not all carriers support DDP for every route.
  • Transparency: With DDP, you’ll see all costs (shipping + duties) up front. With DDU, duties come later and may surprise you.
  • Customs delays / paperwork: Even under DDP, customs may ask for extra documents or proof of value.
