Packing preferences

What are packing preferences?

Packing preferences let you tell Forwardme how you’d like your items packaged — e.g. fragile, minimal packaging, separate stores, etc.

What Are Packing Preferences?

Packing preferences are your instructions on how Forwardme’s warehouse team should package (or handle) your items before forwarding. They reflect your priorities — whether you care more about protection, compactness, or separation of items.

These preferences help us tailor the packaging process to your needs, so you get your items in the way you prefer.

Why Use Packing Preferences?

Choosing packing preferences can help you:

  • Protect fragile items with extra padding
  • Minimize packaging / reduce volumetric weight
  • Keep separate items from different stores (store separation)
  • Use special handling instructions (e.g. fragile, delicate, no tape damage)
  • Optimize overall packaging for cost or safety

How to Set Packing Preferences in Forwardme

When you're creating a shipping order, you’ll pass through multiple steps — and packing preferences is one of them. Here’s how to include packing instructions:

  1. Address selection
Choose your shipping address or destination as usual.
  2. Customs / tax option (DDP or DDU)
Select whether you want duties prepaid (DDP) or unpaid (DDU) depending on your destination address.
  3. Courier selection
Pick your preferred shipping carrier and service level.
  4. Shipping / Packing Preferences
This is where you’ll find “Packing Preferences” in the order setup. Here you can specify how you’d like your items packaged (for example, minimal packaging, extra padding, separating items, etc.).
  5. Payment
Complete your order by paying for shipping + any applicable fees.
